2GB takes home Kennedy Award for Outstanding Radio News coverage of Bondi Beach attack

Sydney’s 2GB has been awarded the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Radio News and Current Affairs for its live, rolling coverage of the Bondi Beach terror attack.
Recognised at Australian journalism’s marquee event, the award celebrates the fast-response, local broadcasting led by Ben Fordham, Mark Levy, Will Bottom. Produced from 2GB’s Sydney studios, the breaking coverage was broadcast nationally across Tapt Media’s network of stations, keeping listeners across Australia informed as the event unfolded.
Tapt Media National Content Manager, Greg Byrnes commended the broadcasters, journalists and production teams for their composure and public service focus during a major crisis, saying: “Winning this award is a great achievement, but more importantly, it goes directly to our purpose: informing our listeners and championing our communities when it matters most.”
“This was a massive team effort with the coverage playing out live across the country through 2GB, 3AW, 4BC, 6PR and the wider Tapt Media network. I couldn’t be prouder of Ben, Mark, Will, and the entire team who delivered calm, accurate, and essential live radio under intense pressure.”
The award reflects a standout performance in a record field, with Kennedy Foundation Chairperson Carl Dumbrell noting the exceptional standard of work selected from more than 900 entries nationwide.
